WordPress Hardening Project

David Kierznowski of Gnucitizen and Philipp Heinze have been working on a WordPress lock down tool , wp-lockdown, to help make the blogging world a safer place. You can find more on this, and the plugin wp-ids over at the WordPress Blog .

  1. Thank you for writing about our projects, but there’s one mistake wp-lockdown, which is currently not public available is created by Gareth Heyes(http://thespanner.co.uk/). I just wrote the WPIDS plugin, which is available for download on phpids.org. Please note that WPIDS is in an really early stage and therefore it may not work 100%. Soon we’re going to release WPIDS which includes wp-lockdown from gareth, so we add some hardwritten Blacklists to WPIDS and therefore we can increase the security even more. Currently WPIDS only uses the Intrusion vectors of PHPIDS.
